About the Book:
Stuart Montgomery MD, the English psychiatrist once said in a meeting that the United States is the only civilized country that doesn’t take care of the mentally ill. He is right. But I’m not sure the US is a civilized country.
I am looking for a protégé. Anyone who has the guts to work very hard and learn the right way to do things can apply.
The Protégé is about the state of Psychiatry in the US. No one wants to hear the truth about the way things really are. Nor do they know how to improve things.
Psychiatrists are dying, retiring, or quitting. Pretty soon, there won’t be any psychiatrists at all. Interestingly, the media talks about how important it is to improve mental health. For whatever reason, experts who could improve the ongoing situation are not involved. There is no plan to fix the problem, nor is there no treatment for the majority of sick psychiatric patients.
These are the ones that live under the bridge. There is nowhere for them to go. There is no treatment for them, and they wander around until they decide to hurt somebody.
